  1. Boston is known as “the Athens of America,” a reference to the city’s more than 100 colleges and universities.

    - Boston is one of the most educated cities in the United States. It is steeped in history and rich in culture.

    - Boston residents are truly dedicated sports fans, with an intense loyalty to the "home teams": the Boston Red Sox baseball, New England Patriots football, Boston Celtics basketball, Boston Bruins hockey, and New England Revolution soccer.

    - Boston is famous for the clam chowder, traditional fish and chips, baked beans, fresh lobster, and steamed local clams.

  2. The standard of dress in Boston varies from casual to formal, depending on the occasion. Casual clothing is

generally acceptable in most restaurants and bars, as well as in most academic settings. Of course, there are

some fine establishments where jackets and ties are needed. We recommend lightweight clothing for summer

along with sunglasses and sun-screen. In the winter, hats, scarves, jackets and sweaters will keep you warm.

Bringing an umbrella is recommended as it does rain from time to time in each season.
